It’s very funny how we usually wander with our minds, imagining all sorts of beautiful places: from spacious luxury homes with breezy patios, to NY lofts with a particular bohemian flair or small compact Scandinavian apartments with a sharp sense of style. We see everyday the work of some of the most brilliant minds, designers and architects, that create out of nothing impressive living spaces and yet, we rarely think about their homes and how do they look like. So here we are, “sneaking” inside the house of a designer, Susan Drover from SAM Design  and exploring her “imaginarium”.Collect this ideaHer lovely home is located in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Simple, yet elegant, Susan Drover’s living space has something that makes you say: “Yes, this is definitely a warm place, where I can enjoy the little things in life. A real home”. The impeccable white is interrupted here and there with splashes of purple shades. The kitchen, the dining area and the living room are connected (the doors have been eliminated), offering a unique living experience, by having a lot of space to move. The fireplace and the raw wood deposit add a touch of warmth.  So, what do you think?! Is it the way you expected it to be?

Nature and the environment have proven to be a big source of inspiration in interior design and architecture over the past few years, particularly where material choice is concerned. We have seen a rise in popularity of natural materials such as wood, stone and slate as people are seeking to reduce their impact on the environment by choosing products that will last longer and that are readily available.Particularly when it comes to flooring, wood, stone and slate are very popular choices. However, not everybody sees the attraction of using these materials in their homes, preferring the comfort, warmth, noise reduction and improved insulation offered by carpet. Picking up the trend for nature in interior design and wanting to cater to carpet lovers, Danish carpet producer Ege came up with the Out of Nature collection. The innovative carpet collection emerged from a desire to bring the rustic beauty of nature inside as part of a building’s interior design. The collection’s expressive, photographic designs adds character to a room, as well as providing good acoustics and comfort underfoot. These carpets look unbelievably realistic and allow you to get the look without compromising on comfort. They definitely have my vote! What about you?

One word to describe the stunning and stylish Breust Residence in Australia: transparency. The house, flooded by light, is a gorgeous mix of sophisticated details, guarded by an infinity pool (also with a transparent structure) on a side and a marvelous garden on the other. The people responsible for accomplishing such a mesmerizing final result are the ones behind  JUO, an Australian, Perth-based design studio.  The living room is structured as a long (and transparent) corridor. The high ceilings and the glass walls create this perfect breezy atmosphere that enhances the feeling of freedom. The Breust Residence is playful: striking shapes, contrasting materials were used in defining it. The two-story residence is spacious and luminous with incredible high ceilings, exhaling elegance (just take a look at the gorgeous copper-like circular bulbs hanging from the ceiling) but also piece of mind, due to the uncluttered décor. “The full height glazing not only maintains this main living area as an extension of the outdoors – with gardens and water on either side – but also allows for natural cross ventilation to cool the space efficiently and naturally without mechanical intervention or air conditioning. The view of water has been created through the use of glass to the side of the above ground lap pool, mimicking the extent of the volume between the two pavilions.”

What a wonderful atmosphere managed to create Georgia Ezra, the head of G. A.B. B. E. studio! Take a look at the exquisite Brighton Escape house in Australia and let the positive energy flood your senses! We really like this stunning interior space because it is the result of a wonderful play of shapes (without being too eccentric) and it also inspires a warm feeling of belonging in a place that evokes serenity. Contemporary lines, beautiful curves and impeccable finishings – this is what the Brighton Escape house is made of.The interior captures the tranquility of the natural environment, making the inhabitant feel like tasting the sweet escape of freedom. The courtyard has corners sprinkled with zen pebbles and a green emerald grass field surrounds the house. “The space was treated from its genesis, with the same respect for design as a museum. Carving of ceiling, walls and floor not only creates sculptural partitions throughout the residence, but with the spirit of a rock pool, provides channels to flow through and delineates ample space in which to dwell together.”  The result is a harmonic composition, that seems to evolve together with its inhabitants…

We ran across a lovely collection of eclectic interiors spiced up with vintage elements by designer Timothy Oulton and thought of sharing them further.Boasting sophistication and creativity, each of the 20 interiors below was developed according to a certain theme. As the designer explains, some of them were inspired by the “Beat” culture of 1950s America, where writers and creative-types championed non-conformity.As you will look through the photos, you will also discover “a nostalgic tribute to the romantic era of luxurious sea voyages“, in various decorative objects. such as vintage trunks, classic upholstery pieces, and travel memorabilia. The interior below is dedicated to old English sports such as tennis, rugby and sailing and is said to exude “the class and refinement that once defined the world of sports”. We are charmed by the array of great details in this remarkable design portfolio and are looking forward to see which elements caught your attention…

The outstanding attachment towards nature, made a Canadian family decide to move their permanent home…into the woods. Gestion René Desjardins, the Canadian studio that completed the interior of this particular house, had to “investigate” what their clients wanted. Located in the rural Quebec, Maison du Boisé is a contemporary home in the middle of the woods. The clients requested a home that is modern, without being “minimalistic”. Moreover, they wanted a space that provides freedom of movement for their three children. After gathering ideas and suggestions, the designers managed to create a fun place,  offering “fluid circulation for joyful fun of all kinds”.  The theatrical high ceilings remind us of the classical architecture where grand means gorgeous. The designers explain: “Reinterpreted from a modern perspective, the coffered ceilings, theatrical openings in the passages and wide matt-white mouldings running along the base of the silk-grey walls combine to create a sense of elegance and harmony, but, surprisingly they bring comfort, too.”  Wide windows complete the décor, showcasing the beautiful green site, inviting you to relax, enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and explore the surroundings. Gorgeous spherical chandeliers adorn the living and the dining room and playful tones of purple add some fun to the ambiance…

We love creative interiors! Creativity is a matter of practice, like many other things in life. There’s no doubt that anyone can be creative, as long as he or she looks for less ordinary approaches. When we first saw the Nussberg Penthouse interior, in Vienna, we thought that the client really wanted “a house to remember”. And that’s exactly what Beef Architekti (the studio responsible with the decoration) managed to deliver to their client. Exquisite, playful and with a touch of rustic elegance, the Nussberg Penthouse, with its bohemian setting (an old Vienna hotel with an exterior spiral staircase), seeks to offer a unique living experience, by blending the natural feel with the contemporary comfort. The penthouse, located on a hill, overlooks the wonderful city. The apartment stands out, due to its “excess” of brightness. You can enjoy wonderful moments, watching the sun at dusk or drink a cup of coffee in the morning, on the terrace. Wood floorings, chairs and different shades of brown, create an environment of natural and almost cottage-like inspiration. The paintings on the walls and the colourful rugs, though, transform it into a more interesting and contemporary home. The result: a playful, creative and bright modern interior…

A bold signature style. Meet Greg Natale, one of Australia’s top designers and explore the universe he imagined for the Clarke Payne project. The designer achieved a stunning effect by mixing details of modern patterns with the artistic style of the 17th century. Overwhelming images filled with precious velvet populate the living space, giving birth to that perfect royal ambience, pictured in movies. As the interior is dominated by shades of grey blended with white details, a certain cool atmosphere is preserved. The baroque details, the high ceilings with the white detailing extending on the walls, the neutral colours, the chandelier and the expressive cold beauty gives  us the feeling that this is a European aristocratic residence, updated to our contemporary tastes and standards. The living room is extremely beautiful and imposing. Probably the most important piece of décor, the chandelier dominates the already breathtaking design. The master bedroom is nothing but royal. With precious fabrics of velvet, combining majestic tones of blue, the bedroom could be reduced to a particular feature: sophisticated. Discovered by the Italians, but borrowed in the entire Europe, the baroque as an artistic style had one major purpose: exaggerate and transmit cathartic exuberance upon people. Back to our home, every single detail exhales grandeur. From fabrics, to motifs, Greg Natale is one of a kind. The edgy blending of classy and modern creates a unique line that characterises his work at Clarke Payne…

Studio ALBUS Design took our breath away with a project inspired by Brazilian culture. Gathered around 150 pounds of bananas celebrating artist Carmen Miranda’s influence on cultural diversity, a collection of carefully chosen decorative elements create a Latin-inspired home comfort. Encouraging this radical aesthetic innovation started by Carmen Miranda, the design created by architect Henrique Steyer and designer Felipe Rijo, of ALBUS Design was imagined to encompass the owners’ significant artwork and antiques collection – “the drawings by Djanira in the wall over the sofa share the space with a painting by Di Cavalcanti and the cocoon-shaped sculpture by Siron Franco” – as well as an interesting collection of feather art displayed throughout. Baroque saints and silver torches next to an antique mirror steal the spotlight once you got used to the bananas: “Yes, we have bananas!” That is how we sum up this project in Porto Alegre, southern Brazil. Inspired in the Brazilian culture and its many influences, this living room is an example of Brazil’s cultural diversity. Just as the Brazilian people is a result of miscegenation, the creation of this living was a search for the perfect mix. Henrique traveled with the home owner to New York, Miami and Rio de Janeiro, looking for an essentially latin harmony.”

Organic shapes achieved with unexpected curves are the defining elements for the design of OLS House near Stuttgart, Germany. The reinforced concrete residence was developed by J.Mayer H. Architects to meet the living needs of a family of four. Slats and anti-glare sheeting provide sun protection and the roof, built with zinc plate cladding is fitted with solar panels.
According to the architects, OLS House is divided into “an elevated ground floor with entrance area, utility room and spa, and a second floor with an open, flowing floor plan containing the living, dining and kitchen areas. Full-height glazing provides a free view of the valley and terrace looking over the garden area. Upstairs are the sleeping areas, dressing rooms and bathrooms. The central design element is a sculptural staircase that connects all three levels“. The outside-inside design unity is striking and ultimately inspiring-have a look!

We recently received an interesting apartment from Hungarian interior designer Melinda Néder. We are pleased to present her work, along with a personal description of the project: “A friendly, 130m2 modern family home was born from a construction site during one and a half years  The owners had only few requests: that the home must be a modern, sleek style, in black and white colors completed with mainly red and silver. I refined only to change the too much black and white color for anthracite- off-white one, so we got a much more friendly colors. They had an other important request to find a place for vinyl record collection. I got totally free hand during the whole work only I had to consider the budget. I must say I was lucky because the owners fully trusted me so I had the opportunity to dream and to realize the dreams.
Elegant silver wallpaper in the hallway, high-gloss furnitures, white glossy finish and red carpet are the elements that welcome the visitors. The living room, dining room and kitchen are in one space. The anthracite-colored furnitures combined with off-white color, where in between the bright red spots vividly stand out. The firewood storage and the built-in storage with shelves are placed in the living room next to a corner fireplace. The kitchen appliances have been installed under the open staircase in this way making full use of dead space. The lightnes of modern glass handrail has an effect to increase the space. The hidden lights of living room and  the stairs illuminator small LED lights further enhance the pleasant atmosphere. The owner’s large record collection has been placed in the turn of the staircase”. Do you enjoy the mix of colors and textures this apartment puts on display?

A vanity bench can always help if you spend a lot of time in the bathroom putting on makeup or doing your hair. Have a look at this incredibly elegant tufted bench from Alice Lane Home that could do the trick. A more compact option is a simple stool, like this gorgeously elegant selection (again from Home Bunch) that matches the style of this bathroom. This vanity from APD Architects actually has its own seated area, with a matching cushioned stool. Even a regular ottoman can work in a bathroom. This one featured on HGTV has a space against a wall right across from the vanity. This next very interesting bench featured on BHG stems out from the vanity beside it, where there’s a window. If the size and architecture of your bathroom make it work, then why not?

Round bathtubs are often used to accentuate clean, crisp powder rooms. And when it’s a room with a view, a simple form is the preferred tub of choice, especially when the focus is on the scene on the other side of the glass windows. Bathrooms with round tubs often feature round sinks. Here’s one more modern powder room with a view. Round tubs are often used to mirror other round forms in the powder room, such as the skylight in the all-white bathroom below. Curved built-in wall shelving provides another focal point in this space, especially since it’s filled with coral and other natural wonders.
